Question of the Day. V.

If your Urban/Rural space was a person, what gender would it be and why?

Dariya:
Rural, woman. She gives life. Women are part of the general life cycle and this process is nature. Also women represent a special energy, the rising of the moon, rivers flowing, children crying, birds flying…
Urban – male. His role is to break through the process of the female.

Melih:
Urban, male.  Rough, big and loud.
Rural, female. Elegant, pure and complicated.

Odwa:
Rural, female.   Females are associated with love and softness, thus creating a calm atmosphere.
Urban, male.  Male energy is very busy and loud. Males are associated with roughness and dominance just like urban areas. Weiterlesen →

Question of the Day. II

A: Close your eyes for 1 minute. Listen carefully. What do you hear closest and what farthest? Write it down please.
B: Your favourite rural and urban sound is:
Why?

Esteban: someone putting shoes on – people talking
Urban: when you can hear the sound from a far away festival
Rural: sounds of nature blending into one unique orquestra

Ana: the wind in my ears –  a car coming around a steep corner
Urban: the sound of the subway approaching, exciting, compelling and never consistent. I want to make art about it.
Rural: the absence of sound,  when the wind isn’t blowing through the trees, the birds aren’t squaking, the leaves aren’t crunching. Then the silence is really full. The moment slows, the min dis quiet, there is just being.

What do I call myself? rural? urban? why?

Marisa I consider myself a rural person following the vibrations and the rhythms of the city. The urban dance shakes up a little bit the harmony of my rural breath.  And I feel alive.

Teya Urban. I grew up in a town outside of the city, but since I left I have always lived in cities. Freedom and aninomity that come from living in a more urban area is something that plays a big part in my identity and day-to-day experiences.

Marie-Lena Urban. I always lived in a city, I like to be with a lot of different people in a small space and to deal with differences/diversity, observing people, how they deal with trouble or to how different cultures meet. I think we can grow through urban space.

David More urban. I like to have people around me.

Dariya Urban. I am from St. Petersburg in Russia, I grew up in this atmosphere – many people, many cultures, many possibilities, share with another your ideas and learn a lot of things.

Question of the Day. Day Two.

If hybridity were one of the senses, which one would it be and why?
Si l’hybridité était l’un des cinq sens, lequel la représenterais?

Benso: Feel, this is because our whole being is made up of different emotions.

Alicia: Sight, you have to see first to gather impressions.
